Overview: Go Conscious Earth is looking for a consultant (or consultancy structure) whose mission will be to provide expertise in order to support communities in the development of sustainable livelihoods in the Lac Tumba region - Equateur Province - Democratic Republic of Congo. The mission will help communities develop sustainable agricultural value chains, as part of an ecosystemic vision of resource management.
Context: Go Conscious Earth supports four local communities in the Lac Tumba area in the establishment and development of their Local Community Forest Concessions (Concessions Forestières de Communautés Locales - CFCLs). The focus of the current phase is the sustainable management and use of resources within the CFCLs, i.e. preserving ecosystems and preventing deforestation, while contributing to local socio-economic development through the support of income-generating activities.
Consultancy objectives:
Analysis of the existing situation and assessment of the opportunities for improving existing or new production and marketing systems for forest and agricultural products, with the goal of improving the living conditions of the target communities, while preserving their forests;
Preparation for the implementation of activities by training local producers to develop:
a) an economic projection of their activity
b) sustainable/regenerative farming techniques.
